Shin Megami Tensei 4, the first new numbered MegaTen game in nearly a decade, is coming to North American 3DSs this summer both as a retail title and digital eShop download, publisher Atlus has announced. This latest entry in the series revolves around a group of samurai fighting demons. As with other games in the series, demons can be recruited to fight alongside you and this fourth entry will feature over 400 of the buggers along with StreetPass functionality and fully voiced dialogue. As with 2003's Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne (released in 2005 as Lucifer's Call in Europe), Shin Megami Tensei 4 will feature the turn-based "Press Turn" combat system in which exploiting an enemy's weakness can result in extra turns.Sadly, no European release has been announced, but given that the game is digitally distributed it seems especially likely that it will make the leap across the pond.

Elementary school age boys target of cross-media blitz for Gaist Crusher; 3DS game will feature anime, toy, music, and manga tie-ins
[h=3]Capcom[/h]capcom-europe.com
With the Mega Man series effectively mothballed in recent years, Capcom has a child-sized gap in its portfolio. The publisher is looking to fill that gap this year, as today it announced a new intellectual property aimed at elementary school age boys, Gaist Crusher.
Gaist Crusher will debut as a 3DS game with a bevy of supporting tie-in projects. The game will see an anime project from the studio behind Naruto and Bleach, Pierrot Co., Ltd. It will also see a line of toys from Bandai, manga series in Saikyo Jump and V Jump, and music produced by Avex Entertainment.
Described by Capcom as a "custom armor action" game, Gaist Crusher is intended to combine the outfit's experience making Mega Man content for kids with the multiplayer focus of its Monster Hunter franchise.
"With the number of children in Japan declining, Capcom plans to use this project to attract interest in new brands and firmly establish these brands by continuously launching a diverse range of content," according to the publisher.
Gaist Crusher for the 3DS is set to launch this winter.

Welcome to a special all-3DS edition of the weekly Nintendo download releases. Or, if you only have a Wii U, Wii, or DS, welcome to a post you can just skip.
Game Freak's HarmoKnight debuts on the 3DS eShop. Game Freak rarely diverges from its main business, Pokémon, so this is a rare chance to see the developer's production values and expertise applied to something other than an RPG about collecting all the world's flora and fauna into sealed containers.
Other releases include Game Boy Color fishing RPG Legend of the River King, and former retail exclusives Resident Evil Revelations and Sonic & Sega All-Stars Transformed.

He indicated that, unlike with Wii U games, Miiverse support for 3DS titles may not be mandatory.Company president Satoru Iwata announced upcoming browser and smartphone support for Miiverse during a Nintendo Direct press conference in January.

We've only just gotten Etrian Odyssey 4, and those in Japan who dare to die in dungeons are already waiting for a new one. The latest issue of Famitsu magazine reveals New Etrian Odyssey: Millennium Girl, a 3DS reimagining of the original Etrian Odyssey.
According to early reports, this game swaps out the light-on-story, character-creation-driven approach of previous Etrians in favor of a story, with defined characters you meet along the way. The Famitsu report says New Etrian Odyssey will be out in Japan on June 27.

According to the firm's US arm, the update introduces the following features:Nintendo eShop improvements - Users will no longer need to close the Nintendo eShop application to ensure the "Download Later" feature works while the Nintendo 3DS is in Sleep Mode.
- Other improvements to usability have been made, including the ability to download software update data in the background.
Improvements to system stability and usability- Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.
Nintendo said this week that changes to the terms and conditions for publishing a game on its eShop service have opened up the digital marketplace to a greater range of indie developers.Business development manager Dan Adelman said: "You know, it's crazy that there are so many developers who don't realize this, but yes, it is not only possible for an indie to get a game onto the eShop service, we've tried to make it as frictionless as possible."

Let's say you bought a pair of cartridge-based games to go with your Nintendo 3DS, but you're embracing our all-digital future and want to replace them with downloadable copies. You won't have to toss all your game progress at the same time: a newly available 3DS firmware update includes a tool to move save files from a retail copy to its downloadable version. The transfer is strictly one-way, though, so there's no falling back for gaming Luddites. Nintendo offers a bonus if you're fully in step with the online world, though -- background downloads can now start just by closing the lid while the eShop is running. Both elements of the update are simple on the surface, but they could go a long way in helping us ditch a legacy of plastic game libraries.

Mind Candy partners with Sheffield-based developer for third title in popular children's franchise
A third Moshi Monsters game is set to be released later this year, Mind Candy has announced.
The title will be for DS and 3DS, with independent UK studio Sumo Digital hired for development duties.
The Sheffield-based developer is best known right now for last year's Sonic All-Stars Racing and Nike+ Kinect Training, both of which have been quite good. They also created the Doctor Who Adventures titles for the BBC.
The new game will launch in Q4 in the UK, US and Australia and is coming to DS and 3DS. There's no word on the game's name, gameplay details or if there will be any other platforms for the franchise.
Mind Candy has previously suggested it would like to expand the series onto other platforms. However, 3DS and DS are the most prevalent non-PC platforms amongst the nine-to-12 age group that Moshi Monsters targets.

via http://www.gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=198808
It's a big week for new releases, what with the Pikachu Limited Edition 3DS XL system now available, a new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, and my personal pick of the week (perhaps of the year), Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon!
So let's kick things off with the new release deals.
Before we dive in, a quick reminder - Club Nintendo is offering a fantastic promotion for anyone who purchases and registers both a 3DS XL system and either Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon or Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity. Not only will your registration garner you a ton of Club Nintendo coins (a 3DS XL qualifies for 160 coins alone), you'll also receive a select free downloadable 3DS game from a line-up including Super Mario 3D Land and Star Fox 64 3D! Your registrations must be entered by April 30th to qualify.
(By the way, if you've already registered a 3DS XL, but did so on or after February 14th of this year, you can still qualify for this offer if you register one of the two games before the deadline.)
One of the best sources for new release deals this week - especially if you're looking to snag everything in one place - is Toys R Us. Not only are Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity part of their Buy 1, Get 1 40% off sale, they're also offering the Pikachu Limited Edition 3DS XL for $179.99 - an immediate discount of $20 - along with a $20 gift card! Unfortunately, the gift card offer is only available in-store. Also, some items are currently not available online, although - in general - the online selection is much larger than in-store. There are also online shipping costs to contend with, even if many sale items may qualify for free in-store pickup. Still, if you have a local TRU store in your area, this is a great way to get the most bang for your buck.
Another great offer for the new Pikachu Limited Edition 3DS XL system comes from Target. With a straight-up discount of $40, you can pick up the system for $159.99. A very nice deal, but like TRU, it's in-store only at the moment - looks like it's currently out of stock online. Hopefully they'll refresh their online inventory soon (which often happens with Target's website), as the system qualifies for free shipping.
Last up for new release deals is Kmart. While they're not offering the Pikachu themed 3DS XL, they are providing some small price breaks on the new games. Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon is ad listed at $34.99, with the new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon title listed at $29.99. This is $5 saved per title - not exactly great, I'll give you that, but hey - lunch at Mickey Dees. Kmart is (kinda) making these offers available online, with similarly discounted prices, although you're stuck with in-store pickup and/or $0.99 shipping.
And there ya go! Some terrific new release discounts to be had, although most are going to involve some real-world brick-and-mortar shopping. Can't always enjoy the convenience of online, I suppose.
Moving on to the other sales and promotions this week. From Walmart, you'll receive a $20 gift card with the purchase of a Wii U Basic or Wii U Deluxe system. Online, this offer allows you to upgrade to the ZombiU Wii U Limited Edition Deluxe bundle - very nice! Walmart has also ad listed their exclusive Skylanders Giants figure, Molten Hot Dog, at $9.96. This little guy includes free in-store pickup. Another notable is a price drop for 3DS Adventure Time - you can now own the game for $19.96.
Along with the Limited Edition Pikachu 3DS XL, Target is also offering a price break on standard edition 3DS systems, discounted to $129.99. If you're shopping Skylanders, you should check out their in-store only Buy 2, Get 1 Free sale on figures and accessories. Though, if you were hoping to pick up the exclusive Jade Flashwing figure displayed in this week's ad, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. Target's website has issued an ad update, stating these figures are sold out and no rain checks will be issued. Such are the disappoints of Skylanders collecting.
Best Buy is offering a number of largely unremarkable Nintendo related promotions this week - dance and Disney games, primarily. Most of these you'll find worked into their ongoing Big Spring Cleanup sale, which still features a number of fantastic deals, although the best are now limited to in-store pickup. Perhaps their most notable offer of the week is a $10 price break for the new Castlevania: Lords of Shadow: Mirror of Fate - it's available for $29.99 shipped.
Kmart is offering a Buy 1, Get 1 50% off all video games priced $19.99 or less. They're also offering various price breaks on New Super Mario Bros. 2, Mario Kart 7, DS Adventure Time, and Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure for Wii and 3DS. Shipping is either $0.99, free with in-store pickup, or free with an order of $59 or more, depending.
Along with their Buy 1, Get 1 40% off sale and aforementioned Pikachu Limited Edition 3DS XL deal, Toys R Us is offering a number of Nintendo related discounts this week. You can purchase a standard edition 3DS XL for $179.99, or the smaller 3DS for $149.99. Buy these in-store and you'll receive a $20 gift card as well! If you're Skylanders shopping, purchasing a Skylanders Giants character 3-pack or Battle pack will earn you a free Skylanders Show & Go Case. Yeah, that's right - you know you want it.
As for Amazon - they're doing their own thing, which isn't much, really. Meaning the usual compliment of Disney, dance and Lego discounts. But as far as their standardized sales go, this isn't a bad one. There are a number of more recent titles in the mix, including Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two for Wii (arguably the best version of the game) for $17.00 shipped. They've also thrown in Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion for $17, 3DS Lego Batman 2 for $15, and Wii Lego Lord of the Rings for $15. But the standout is their Skylanders Giants Starter Pack offers, with the Wii U and 3DS versions available for $34 each, shipped!
Of course, it wouldn't be a proper installment of Online Game Deals without some Amazon price matching. So far, Best Buy's $29.99 Castlevania: Lords of Shadow: Mirror of Fate (shipped) and Walmart's $19.96 3DS Adventure Time have been matched. Time will tell if others occur this week - you can always take a look here and see if anything has changed. And that's a wrap! As always, you'll find a mega-list of game deals after the jump. I'm off to do some coin grinding in Galaxy 2 - thanks for reading.

Renegade Kid is most recently known for the side-scroller Mutant Mudds, but initially came to prominence with Dementium and Moon, both first-person shooters for DS. The developer is returning to its handheld horror roots withCult County, a new FPS for 3DS unveiled at PAX East.
The developer posted some 3D images on its website, which you can see by going here with your 3DS browser, or using the QR code here. The page notes that these images are from an early "atmosphere" demo. The atmosphere is, it would appear, dusty.

March 23rd, 2013, 23:02 Posted By: wraggster
Finally the Western media seems to have understood Japan’s favourite game. Despite countless million domestic sales on 3DS, PSP, Wii, Wii U, PS3 and PS2, and a whole genre of hunting-action rip-off games, Capcom’s Monster Hunter series has garnered a passionate but small following in Europe and North America, with many of the entries never even being localised. But the European release of Monster Hunter 3: Ultimate on Wii U and 3DS this week has seen a raft of reverent reviews. Edge gave it a 8, and other specialist outlets scored it similarly highly. Even dailies such as The Telegraph have sung its praises, with a well-informed 4/5 review touting the game as “essential”.In Japan, Monster Hunter 3: Ultimate is already old hat. The 3DS version was released as Monster Hunter 3 (Tri) G in December 2011, and fans had already clocked up hundreds of hours of play by the time the HD version was released as a Wii U launch title in December (with a special Ultimate bundle in addition to the Basic and Deluxe models you got in the West).Indeed, hunters in Japan had been expecting to be playing Monster Hunter 4 on 3DS around now, until the release was pushed back to summer 2013. Those of us who played a demo of the forthcoming title at Tokyo Game Show 2012 noted a host of new character moves that lend more of an action feel, as well as new and enhanced weapons – and new monsters to bloody them on. Who knows, if Ultimate’s newfound positive media spin in the West translates to actual sales, you may eventually get Monster Hunter 4 too.Monster Hunter creator-producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and director Kaname Fujioka are presumably now in crunch mode for Monster Hunter 4, as they’ve given few interviews to the Japanese media these past couple of months. Fujioka told Famitsu last September that he was happy with fan feedback from the TGS demo of its latest project. “Although we’ve added new features such as being able to jump, long-time players seemed to find the game comfortable to play,” he said. It’s just as well, because these more nimble action elements will likely be a big part of the next Monster Hunter, refreshing the series for millions of devoted gamers. “This time, rather than wanting to stop and look around the field, we hope to craft it in such a way that players will want to run around and explore,” said Tsujimoto. Players will also be able to attack while climbing walls or even clamber onto a monster’s back for a dose of close-up violence.
