dsi not reading cards

Hi all ive got a problem with my sons dsi as it wont read any r4i cards but can read the originals.
Its on version 1.4.3E ive bought the right version of the card casue it works on the other dsi`s of my other kids.
This is doing my nut in has anyone got any theories abut what the hell is going on.???
